Bordalás: "The team were very reliable and very solid for much of the game."

With another preseason encounter under his belt, coach José Bordalás reflected on his side's showing against AC Milan and the preparations for the upcoming 2021/22 season.

Good feeling in defence

"Little by little we are working and improving to try to arrive at the start of the season in the best shape. It is important to keep clean sheets and make sure that opposing sides generate few chances. Today AC Milan, who are a great team, did not have many scoring chances. The team were very reliable and very solid for much of the game."

News of LaLiga's agreement with CVC

"The news broke today, so we have not had enough time to comment on it because we were immersed in the game tonight. We have not been able to talk about that issue.

The transfer market

"When I arrived at Valencia CF, this great club, I knew the situation the club were in. We discussed the needs for the team and we all agreed. I am committed, because we all know the needs of the squad to face this difficult season well.

"There are few days left until the start of the season, but we are in contact with the president, the board, and Miguel Ángel Corona, working every day so that the players we need for specific and important positions arrive as soon as possible."

Daniel Wass's fitness

"Wass is fine, he has been able to train a little with us. He is a player in whom we have confidence, who is important to us, and we hope that he will be fit again soon to help the team in a very demanding season."

Gayà's condition

"We were all worried, and it seems that he suffered a heavy knock -a scare. We are confident that he is not injured, byt the relevant tests will be carried out. We saw that he was much better in the dressing room afterwards."

Which position he would prioritise in the transfer market

"If we talk about the situation right now, with injured players and Carlos Soler at the Tokyo Olympics -hopefully he wins gold with Spain- right now I would say that someone for midfield is a very important need for the team."
